Meet Kevin

Your IELTS Trainer

IELTS training is not simply about knowing the examination format. It is also about understanding where a candidate is struggling and helping them develop a more effective approach for their next attempt.

His experience includes working with candidates preparing for international English-language examinations and supporting learners at different stages of their preparation.

  • Master’s in TEFL/TESOL

My academic background combines language teaching, critical thinking and professional development. My TEFL/TESOL studies provide the foundation for my English-language teaching, while my studies in Philosophy and People Management have further developed my analytical, communication and professional skills.

An Individual Approach to IELTS Retake Training

Every repeat test taker comes with a different experience of IELTS. A score report can show the result achieved in each module, but it does not by itself explain every difficulty a candidate may have experienced during the examination. For this reason, the training process also involves speaking with candidates about their previous test experience, understanding the difficulties they faced and identifying areas that may need attention.

The aim is not to place every candidate into the same preparation programme. The focus is to understand the individual candidate and develop a training approach that is appropriate to their current needs and next IELTS attempt.

Experience Across Different English Examinations

Over the years, my training work has included IELTS, OET, PTE, GRE, UKVI and English Grammar. Working with different examination formats has provided experience in helping candidates understand examination requirements, develop appropriate strategies and identify areas where further preparation may be needed.

For IELTS retake candidates, the emphasis is on understanding the candidate's previous experience, identifying practical areas for improvement and providing focused preparation rather than simply repeating the same preparation used for the previous attempt.

My Approach to Teaching

I believe effective IELTS training should be practical, structured and responsive to the individual candidate. A candidate who has already taken IELTS should not automatically be asked to repeat an identical preparation programme. The purpose of individual training is to understand what happened in the previous attempt, identify areas that may require attention and use practice and feedback to prepare more effectively for the next one.

The final goal is not simply to complete a course. It is to help the candidate become better prepared to face the IELTS examination again.

Professional Development Beyond Teaching

Alongside my language-teaching background, I have also developed professional knowledge in people management through the CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management Professional. This has strengthened my understanding of individual development, communication and professional learning.

Although this qualification is separate from my IELTS teaching credentials, the knowledge and skills developed through it complement my wider approach to working with individual learners.

Who I Work With

I primarily work with candidates who have already taken IELTS and are preparing for another attempt. This includes candidates who need to improve a particular module, candidates who are close to their required band score but need further practice and feedback, and candidates who may need to strengthen aspects of their English before undertaking more intensive IELTS preparation.

The starting point is always the individual candidate, their previous IELTS experience and the areas that need attention.
